Wrath of the Moon and Fury of the Sun (DM)

This pair of matched urutuks are made of mithril and feature stylized engravings of the mythical Mother Moon on one hatchet and of Father Sun on the other. They are beautiful weapons and the epitome of the smith's art. They are also ancient Durgis Clan heirlooms and together form a powerful covenant item.

Legend claims that a common figure of dwarven legend, a mythical youth known only as the Child of the Mountain, was one day hunted by a party of orcs. Wounded and weaponless, the child was cornered in a narrow defile. It is said that Father Sun, hoping to see a noble last stand, bestowed a single urutuk on the boy. The boy fought valiantly but was clearly outnumbered. Mother Moon, seeing his plight, gifted him with a second urutuk to even the odds. Wielded together, the magical power of they manifested allowed the Child to prevail against the orcs.

The Wrath of the Moon and the Fury of the Sun are mithral weapons and therefore masterwork items.

Non-covenant Game Statistics: +1 mithral urutuks

Omen of Covenant: The moon and sun emblems etched on to the blades shed a pale silver and subdued golden light respectively when within 100 ft. of an orc or goblinoid. Additionally, all covenant powers of the hatchets only function when the weapons are wielded together. Separating the weapons for any length of time causes a discordant hum to be generated by each of them until they are returned to proximity.

5th Level: +1 mithral returning urutuks. In addition, whenever the user wishes, the weapons will jump into his hands from any distance as long as he has line of effect to them. If the weapons are restrained in any manner, the make opposed Strength rolls (Str 18) to free themselves. The urutuks reach their user at the end of the round in which he recalls them. Catching both returning weapons is an instinctual manifestion of the item's power.

7th Level: The Wrath of the Moon becomes a +1 mithral returning goblin bane urutuk.

9th Level: The Fury of the Sun becomes a +1 mithral returning orc bane urutuk.

11th Level: The enhancement bonus on both weapons rises to +2. In addition, the urutuk's powers provide the wielder with the Two-Weapon Defense bonus feat. If the wielder already possesses Two-Weapon Defense, the bonus provide rises to +2.
